This same yere, at Awrastelynge, John Northwold, mercer, was sclayn at the blak heth, wherethrough aroos a gret discencion and debate among the craftes of London. And in the same yere the duk of Lancastre and the erle of Cambregge came out of Gascoyne and wedded the doughter of king Petyr. And in the same yere too cardinalx were sent fro the pope to entrete for the pees betwen the two reaumes. And in this year was a bataill upon the see betwen Englisshmen and Flemynges, where there were taken of the Flemunges xxv schippes lade with salt of the bay. Also in this yere the erle of Pembroke was taken at the Rochell be the Spaynardes, on the even of the nativite of seynt John baptiste.


This same year, at Awrastelynge, John Northwold, mercer, was slain at the black heath, wherethrough arose a great dissension and debate among the crafts of London. And in the same year the duke of Lancaster and the earl of Cambridge came out of Gascony and wedded the daughter of king Peter. And in the same year two cardinals were sent from the pope to entreat for the peace between the two realms. And in this year was a battle upon the sea between Englishmen and Flemings, where there were taken of the Flemings 25 ships laden with salt of the bay. Also in this year the earl of Pembroke was taken at La Rochelle by the Spaniards, in the eve of the nativity of saint John baptist.
